Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron located in Pier rd. St. Kilda
This services contract project was valued at AUD$690,000 and was completed between January 2013 to January 2014.
The scope of works performed included: installation of electrical services of a distance of 750m from the MSB to a new 250 berth marina being built on Port Phillip Bay; installation of power mains cables, optic fibre communications from MSB RMYS to the new Marina Distribution Board a total distance of approx. 800 meters.
We refined and corrected existing design and constructed necessary infrastructure.
Description
Scarlett Contracting were engaged to install electrical infrastructure capable of 400 amps per phase, this involved running 4x 150mm flexible cables per phase and neutral a distance of approx. 800 metres down St. Kilda pier to supply the new 250 berth marina.
Some of the greatest obstacles we encountered were managing the traffic for the duration of the project with access being restricted at certain times throughout the works due to activities in the precinct.
Working in vessels in water presented challenges that were overcome and hauling in cables over longer than usual circumstances in this environment was an exceptional effort by our staff notably Glenn Mackintosh.
Notable achievements include the commitment, dedication and can-do attitude of the team throughout the project in relation to challenges such as working with tides, rough seas, water rats, and working in water to achieve common goals within specified time frames and in a cohesive fashion, collaborating with all parties including Parks Victoria, RMYS, GHD Consultants, NASH project management and the kiosk tenant at the end of the pier.
